Five Faves: January Picks

by - February 03, 2017

I have such a love of products! Seriously, Amazon is my godsend and online shopping is my go to because I can't stand overcrowded malls and standing on lines in stores. I love the ability to try out new products (Oh, hey Ipsy subscription glam bag) and even more I love being able to share my love of those products with the people closest to me. So why not go a step further and share it with you.

So here are my top 5 monthly picks for January:

Speaking of my little Ipsy subscription package, I received the sample size of this little oil. At first I was hesitant because I already have some combination/oily skin. The thought of slathering my face in oil on top of the natural oil was just...YUCK to me. But then I decided to take a chance; a chance that has lead to to complete and total obsession with this product. After washing my face at night, I substitute my regular moisturizer for this little godsend. It doesn't leave my skin feeling extra slick and the benefits are out of this world! For an oil, it's lightweight and is packed with Vitamin C which has helped to lighten up some acne spots on my face. Though the scent is something interesting to get used to, it's worth it in my book!

Another sample turned staple in my arsenal of beauty products.  I got this sample with a Sephora order or setting powder and eyeliner and I fell in love with it from the moment I tested it on my wrists. It was instant love at first whiff. A few weeks later I asked for it on my trusty little Christmas list and got the cutest bottle ever with my initials engraved in the bottle. HOW PRECIOUS! I don't like strong and overpowering scents. This one is a perfect soft flowery/fruity scent without being too sweet and still feeling fun and flirty.

I've recently transitioned to the Keratin hair treatment trend and am in love with it. So in love that I've been trying out all kinds of sulfate-free products to keep it strong and lasting as long as possible. That's where this trusty product comes in. Between deep cleansing shampoo/conditioner washes when I don't want to strip my hair of it's natural oils and protein, I go with this trusty product. Have I mentioned how DELICIOUS it smells? I use a lot of hot tools on my hair so I frequently have the lingering scent of hair straightener locked into my locks; even with a deep shampoo and conditioner. This is, hands down, the only product that leaves my hair smelling like anything but burnt hair. The smell of fresh raspberries and a little mint linger for days, so much so that I whip my hair around for fun just to get that delightful scent filling my senses.

In early January I decided to change my life a little bit by getting LASIK eye surgery (more to come about that in a later post). A part of my recovery was that I couldn't wear any heavy makeup 72 hours after surgery and I had to avoid powder and eye makeups for about a week after surgery. So in came the CC cream. It's thick enough to offer light-medium coverage with a little layering and blends beautifully into the skin. It even worked well enough for me to be able to blend just a little under my eyes for some coverage without having to top it with concealer (though I really did miss my concealer). I, personally, prefer to just push one pump of this stuff into her fingers and slather it onto my face with my hands. I've tried it with a brush (I ordered it as a set and it actually came with this brush which I wasn't a fan of when applying) and I've tried it with a beauty blender, my amateur application of fingers has always been the best option.

5. Pink Zebra Products
I've talked so much about beauty products I bet you didn't expect a curveball coming your way! I used to be totally obsessed with candles. I loved lighting them and the nice scent they let out when they were lit. But when it came time to blow them out I dreaded it because I hated the after scent that lingered of the black smoke the flames and wick let out. You know what's in those black smokes? Tons of harsh chemicals which are actually really bad for your lungs and health over time. I was introduced to Pink Zebra by my sister and have never looked back since. Their products have long lasting scents (a table spoon of the wax pebbles, aka Sprinkles, last for 3-4 weeks) and their simmering pots/lights come in beautiful colors with even cuter decorative shades to cover them (but frankly they're gorgeous as a standalone item). They have a plethora of products to fit any room in your home...and even your car! Seriously, once you try these babies your life will be changed FOREEEEEVER
