Five Faves: Travel Essentials
Hello, beauties! Today I welcome another edition of Fab Five! Now I'm not a big traveler (yet!), but I've hopped on a handful of planes this year and seen a couple of exciting places. Below are some of my favorite travel picks, from packing hacks to skincare. For more on my travelling must haves, keep reading:
I hope someone agrees with me when I say that packing for a trip of any kind is the worst thing. Remember everything you need to pack, worrying if you've over/under packed, and trying to squeeeeeeeeeze everything into your suitcase (especially a carry on one) as tight and as best as possible while also trying to keep it organized. Well, these babies can't solve your worries, but they can help with the organizing part of your packing. I love how these cubes make my suitcase look cleaner and clearer. Plus, it motivates me to keep my case organized when I'm at my destination, which makes repacking it for the return home a lot easier.
Airplanes, travelling, and a new environment can take a bit of a toll on anyone's skin. So I like to travel with a couple of sheet face masks in my toiletry bag. I'll usually try to do one the day I get to a new location that way my skin is hydrated and under control for the rest of my trip. If I've been sitting out under the sun tanning all day or swimming in the beach or pool, I'll also do a face mask about halfway through the trip, right before bed, to re-hydrate my skin so I'm fresh faced in the morning. I really like these from Sephora - they're inexpensive, come in a variety of options for specific targeted needs, and you get a good bang for your buck. Simply wash your face, smooth one of these babies on, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, and gently massage in the remaining product once you take the mask off.
3. Noise Cancelling Headphones
Let's be honest: traveling is a good time to catch up on some sleep (unless you're driving to your destination and you're the driver.) I've been eager for a pair of Beats headphones for a while, but I just do not want to drop so much money on a pair of headphones. Luckily, my sister introduced me to these beauties and offer great sound and also help you to zone out everything else around you, leaving you to only focus on the sound pumping into your ears. Yes, they're even crying-baby-next-to-you-on-an-airplane proof (personally tested). Not only do they come in a pretty rosy or black color, are foldable, and bluetooth; but they have a fantastically affordable price point!
When you can't find your favorite full size product (think moisturizer, cream face mask, etc.) in a travel sized option, you need something smaller to be able to tote them along with you. Enter these handy dandy little silicone containers. I love how tight they seal making sure there's nothing leaking out of the edges.
5. Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
If you're like me, you like using all the spare time you have on a plane to either catch up on a Netflix show you've downloaded or, better, catch up on a good book. But do you know what the worst feeling is? When you flip to the last page of the book and then need to purchase a new book. Not only do you now have to carry around an book you're finished with that's taking up space in your carry-on, but you have another book that you're an anxious to read! Enter the Amazon Kindle. This slim yet powerful little device can hold a plethora of books that you can have right at your fingertips. Trust me, I used to be very big about having that natural look and feel of a bound book in my hands, but the Kindle makes traveling with your favorite reads a breeze.
