What's In My (ALMOST Everyday) Makeup Bag?

by - December 30, 2018

When it comes to makeup, I love every bit of it. I love how quickly you can change up your look and vibe just with a flick of some eyeliner or a bold lipstick color. I love the creative freedom and artistic outlet that makeup can give. I absolutely adore taking the time every morning to get ready for the day and doing my makeup.

But what are my favorite little goodies to use on a daily basis? Below you'll find a list of all the products I use regularly, plus a couple of extra recommendations of items I'm loving.

Face

*PRIMER* I am absolutely in love with the Wander Beauty Catch the Light Highlight & Glowtion to get my face all prepped and ready for makeup application. I'm also very upset I received a sample of Juice Beauty PHYTO-PIGMENTS Illuminating Primer in an Ipsy glam bag because I'm also loving that product. I really just like an illuminating primer to start my face off with some glory hydration and smoothness to make the rest of my makeup application seamless. When I want a more matte finish, I like using the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Primer

*FOUNDATION* My newest love is the Bounce Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation. It's so creamy and smooth and stays in place all freaking day! If you're looking for a drugstore alternative, for a long time I used the L'Oréal Inallible Pro Matte 24HR Foundation. The downside is that it only comes in about 10 shades and my problem was I had to buy two shades and mix them together in order to get a good color for my skin tone.

*CONCEALER* I cannot tell you all the ways that I have fallen head over heels in love with Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer. Holy mother is this stuff magic! It is creamy, easily bendable, and truly does not budge one bit.

*SETTING POWDER* I will live and die by the holy grain product that is LauraMercier Translucent Setting Powder. For a more budget friendly alternative, I'm a fan of RCMA Make Up No Color Powder.

*BRONZER* Like many, I too am obsessed with Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer to add a little bit of warmth and dimension back to my face after getting a smooth base from my foundation.

*HIGHLIGHTER* This is a tough one to tackle because there's just so many highlighters I love. First, I'd go back into the Wander Beauty Catch The Light Highlighter & Glowtion and use the creamy highlight stick end of it to swipe on the high point of my cheek. I like to layer my highlighters with a cream first, followed by a powder pigment. My go-to palette would have to be the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Glow Kit. It's got 4 beautiful metallic shades that are great as standalone or combined to make a custom glow for your face. My favorite single shade highlighter is the Dose of Colors DesixKaty Fuego highlight. It's such a beautiful golden color that goes on buttery smooth and lasts all day.

*BLUSH* I'll be honest, I'm not crazy about pinky, poppy blushes. But there is onethat I love and it makes me so sad to say that it's been discontinued so I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of it. It's the MAC Cosmetics Sun & Moon Mineralize Blush.

Eyes

During the week I don't really take the time to do my eyeshadow. Maybe, maybeI'll cheat and use my pinky finger just to swipe some highlighter onto my inner corners, but that's about it. Instead I go for a flick of eyeliner and mascara and call it a day.

*EYELINER* I can't live without the stuff. I feel like my face isn't complete until I have a smudge of eyeliner to make my eyes pop! I have so many eyeliner pencils, I change it up every day. I've been using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion(black) ever since I was in high school so you know this stuff is legit. If you're not into cream pencils and are more of a brush person, then my all time favorite gel formula is Inglot's AMC Eyeliner Gel

*MASCARA* I live for the Benefit They're Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara. I don't know what I love more: the volumizing formula or the comb-like bristles of the brush that separate and coat each lash. For a drugstore alternative, check out L'Oréal Voluminous Mascara

*BROWS* I don't know when I became so self aware of my brows but ever since I did, I've just been self conscious about my brows. I have to admit, I've come a long way with them though. To start, I like to brush through them with Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+ Volumizing Eyebrow Gel. This stuff is great to smooth the brow hairs into place while adding some fullness in with it's little microfibers. After that, I'll detail and fill in any sparse spots with either the Anastasia Brow Wiz or the Chella Eyebrow Cream

Lips

I change up my lipsticks every. single. day. There's no way for me to settle on just one. Sometimes I want a bold red lip; most days I'll go for something neutral. But every day is a good day for lip balm!

*BALM* Aquaphor Lip Repairis the best of the best in lip balm that ever existed. It's immediately hydrating and soothing.

*LIPSTICK* I hate when I do decide to wear a lipstick and the colors run. Which is why I like Liquid Matte formulas. One that I'm totally obsessing over lately is the Saraya Jade Breakup Collection. All of these colors are so freaking b-e-a-utiful! But my favorite shade for everyday wear is Rebound. They're velvety, creamy, and hydrating but still give you that matte finish. As if that wasn't enough, the color lasts all day long. I can drink, eat, and chat all day without worrying about this stuff budging.

I know this list seems crazy long and like there's a lot of products to go through every single morning, but I do it because I like to do it. Some may see it as time consuming; I see it as therapeutic. The time I take to do my makeup in the mornings (about 15-20 minutes) is my "me time." It's the time I take to just reflect and bring myself to a state of peace of mind before going out into the world - into work - and conquering my days.
