Five Faves: The Overdue Edition

by - June 16, 2017

Happy Fabulous Friday! You know what's even better than having a great Friday? Getting a new Fab Five pos, especially because it's been fooooooorever since my last one came around. So let's cut right down to the chase and check-ch-check out some of my favorite products I've come across lately.

1. M•AC Shadescents

Back again with another fragrance. This precious little gem was a Christmas gift (shout out to family members who work for beauty brands). I'm not one for very strong or overpowering scents and this is everything opposite of that which is why I love it. MAC's Shadescents come in 6 different fragrances inspired by their most popular lipsticks. Now I can't talk on the other 5 scents, but this Creme D'Nude one is the one I have and it is.....EVERYTHING. I can't tell you how many compliments I get whenever I wear it. There's delectable hints of vanilla underneath warm, soft musky tones. The definition of a sexy and sultry everyday wear.

You know what I hate? Breakouts! You know what I really hate? When they linger around for WAY too long. That's where this nifty little bottle comes into play. Once I see a breakout coming I simply dip a cotton swab into the bottle (you don't wanna shake up the product!) and dab the pink cream onto the spot. I prefer to do this overnight so that it has time to dry out the pimple and really reduce it to the point where it's hardly visible come morning. This has saved my face time after time.

3. NYX Beauty School Dropout Palette - Graduate
*Note: this palette is out of stock, but they have plenty of other travel friendly palettes/products available.*

I will be the first to admit that, when I'm packing for a weekend away or a vacation, I tend to sometimes overpack way too much makeup. I never know what colors I'm going to want to use. My makeup bag gets way too overfilled to the point where I end up having to pack two. It's just too much! That's why I love this palette. It's perfect for travel and takes the guesswork out of what shadows/bronzers/highlighters/blushes to pack up with you. NYX carries several trifold book-like palettes and this particular one I happened to pick up with an Ipsy promo. It comes with a mirror, 35 eye shadow colors, 3 blush options, 2 highlighters, and 2 contour shades. There's even a day to night look included! Get ready to pack on the colors and play around with your looks thanks to this versatile collection.

4. Pixi by Petra Glow Tonic

When it comes to skincare products, especially for the face, I'm super cautious about what I use and what I try out. I know sometimes it's good to give new things a try because change can be good, but I have some pretty sensitive skin so I'm always afraid of what the aftermath might be if I give something new a try. So I was naturally skeptical when it came to all the rave around this product. I put off giving it a try for some time because (a) my aforementioned skin concerns (b) it was impossible to find in stores when Target started selling the product, and (c) The $15 price for the small 3 ounce bottle. Okay, $15 isn't that bad, but I used it as an excuse considering Target is the Devil's playground where you always go in for one thing and come out with 5 other things you didn't need. Besides the point. I decided to give the Glow Tonic a try after hearing a friend's review on it and how much she enjoys using it along with the delights it's done for her skin. And, oh man, I couldn't agree more. Remember when I reviewed the Tarte Maracuja Oil? Well, those dark spots that the oil alone was clearing up started to clear 10x quicker and better when I started using the Glow Tonic. The only negative I have towards this product is it's smell. It's kind of unpleasant (like the Tarte oil), but it's worth having to deal with for 5 seconds until it seeps into the skin and works WONDERS.

5. Vans: Asher Perforated Slip-On Sneakers
Here's the curve-ball I'm throwing into the mix on this post - shoes! With summer just around the corner, it's time to whip out all of the comfy and cute shoes: sandals, flip flops, and the occasional pair of easy to wear sneakers. These Vans have quickly become my go-to shoe at any given time. They're incredibly comfortable (as all Vans are) and go with just about everything if you want to keep things casual in your closet. I am beyond obsessed with these shoes, so much that they've become top staple in my closet and will get a heck of a lot of wear throughout the summer for me.
